Volunteering in Croatia:

Ecumenical Women’s Initiative

 Omis, Croatia

Website: http://www.eiz.hr

To support women as initiators and agents of change within faith communities and in society, the Ecumenical Women’s Initiative (EWI) supports and connects individuals and groups throughout the Western Balkans who are working in the fields of women’s rights, peacebuilding, reconciliation, and ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue and cooperation. EWI also works to encourage networking and cross-border cooperation. The majority of EWI's activities involve providing grants to women-led grassroots organizations; additional activities include regional networking of women activists and capacity-building of the local partners. EWI seeks a Visibility and Fundraising Consultant to further develop and maintain the EWI website, provide technical support for events and conferences, help with development of the donor base and new fundraising strategies, organize input from partners for the EWI database, and assist with other general support. The volunteer should be female and have basic beginner knowledge of the Croatian language and willingness to learn more. She should have a contextual understanding of current trends in women’s movements and the inter-religious peace movement as well as of the cultural, political, and historical background of the Croatian and Western Balkan region and religious communities. Other requirements include advanced knowledge in grant proposal drafting, project reporting, website construction, database development, and the use of social networking as a visibility and fundraising tool.
